Garlic Butter Cast Iron Pork Chops Recipe Ingredients:

Butter

Minced Garlic

Thyme

Salt

Ground Black Pepper

Pork Chops- You can use bone-in or boneless pork chops; if the meat is a thicker cut, it may take longer to cook than thicker pork chops.

Olive Oil

Using Cast Iron

I made these in a cast iron skillet but you can also use a preseasoned cast iron Dutch oven.

Wipe your cast iron down with oil to help make sure that it is ready to cook without having stuff stick.

Enameled Cast Iron will also work! Be sure to know How To Season Your Cast Iron. (You can see my post-> here!

How TO Make garlic butter pork chops:

Brush your pork chops with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Now I let my pork chops set out for about half an hour before I cook them. I like to have the meat at room temperature before I cook it. We also had a combination of bone-in, and boneless chops either style of pork chops will work for this recipe.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Butter with seasonings in it before melting

In a microwaveable bowl, have your butter, garlic, and thyme ready to be melted.

Note you can add more salt and pepper to the butter if you want to.

Pour some olive oil into your cast iron pan and turn a burner to medium heat. This will help the meat not to stick to the pan.

Start melting your butter in the microwave, and I do this in 15-second intervals so I can mix in the seasonings a bit as the butter melts.

Once your oil is warmed up, place the pork chops and then cover with your melted butter.

Allow the pork chops to cook for about five minutes on each side, and then move the garlic butter pork chops in oven to finish cooking  I made Oven Roasted Baby Potatoes (See the recipe -> here) to pair up with the pork chops.

Allow the pork chops to bake for about 25 minutes.

I flipped mine halfway through for evenness and wanted to see how they were cooking.

I took the time to add more Thyme to add more flavor. You can skip this step if you want or are afraid of overseasoning.

  1. The only thing I didn’t see in the recipe, was when to add the minced garlic. I assumed, that when we added the melted butter & Thyme into the cast iron skillet, the minced garlic was added at that point. We found it to be an excellent result as you described, finishing the cooking in the skillet in the oven. You are right, it was juicy and very tasty following your recipe. We drizzled the garlic and butter & Thyme left over in the skillet over the pork chops before serving & it was scrumptious. Flipping over the chops halve way through the 375 bake was an excellent idea as well. Thanks!!!

  2. Cooked this while teaching my 9 year old how to use my cast iron. It was so good! I have a hard time making pork chops not dry. This was perfect. I figured out when to add the garlic eventually.
