Philly Cheesesteak Quesadilla Recipe Ingredients:

  • Philly Cheesesteak– The cheesesteak filling can be made specifically for quesadillas or use leftovers. You can use frozen vegetables and store-bought shaved steak to make your Philly Cheesesteak faster. See-> How To Make Philly Cheesesteak on Blackstone for detailed instructions and ingredients.
  • Shredded Cheese– Most commonly, slices Provolone cheese is used on Philly Cheesesteaks. However, since I was feeding teenagers, sliced American Cheese and cheese whiz was requested on theirs. Cheddar cheese will work for this as well. The kind of cheese comes down to a personal choice. Mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese can also be used but they weren’t our first choice personally.
  • Tortillas-You will want to use a flour tortilla and the larger size of 9-inch tortillas or 10-inch tortillas. They will crisp without breaking while they are on the Blackstone. If you don’t want to use flour tortillas, you can use a whole wheat tortilla or low-carb tortilla.
  • Optional Sauces- Taco Bell has a Jalapeno Sauce that they put in their Quesadilla; you can skip the sauce. We threw in cheese instead. Butter and Manyoniesse are good for a spread before meat, cheese, or even sour cream.

How To Make Philly Cheesesteak:

I’ll summarize the basic steps to make Philly Cheesesteak on the Blackstone, but you can find in-depth directions on the post itself.

To make this faster, use frozen vegetables and store-bought shaved steak meat. (My frozen pepper mix had frozen yellow peppers, orange peppers, red bell peppers, and green bell pepper with white onion.)

Oil your Blackstone if needed, or clean as well, and fire up your Blackstone grill to medium-high heat.

On one side of your grill, cook your frozen vegetables; on the other, cook your shaved steak meat. (I put Minced Garlic, Blackstone Cheese Steak Seasoning, Worchestire Sauce, Garlic Salt, and Black Pepper into my meat.)

Add more oil if needed and combine everything.

Once the meat and vegetables are fully cooked, remove and serve or store later.

While your griddle is heating up to medium heat, heat your leftover Philly Cheesesteak if it is not warm from coming off the griddle.

Reheating in the microwave works well for this part. You can cover with a warm paper towel to help keep and maintain the meat’s moisture. It also allows the microwave to heat the food more evenly than a dry paper towel. My old lady also says it helps not cause splatter in the microwave, so double win.

If you want, spread the tortilla inside with butter, mayo, or even a jalapeno sauce for added flavor.

The next step is to top half of the tortilla with Philly Cheese Steak filling; the other side of the tortilla will have nothing, so it folds over the toppings.

Philly Cheesesteak Quesadilla Being Assembled On Flour Tortillas

Lay a piece of cheese or top with Cheez Whiz. You can top it with slices of Provolone cheese, American cheese, or any sliced cheese you choose.

Fold the tortilla half the rest of the way and throw it on the hot griddle.

Use the Long Blackstone spatula to flip your Quesadilla when it has come to a golden brown on the outside of the tortilla. You will want to watch, so it doesn’t become a super crispy quesadilla. A crispy tortilla is what you want but not burnt.

Allow for the cheese melt to happen as you are cooking the quesadilla.

If your tortilla fits under a dome, you can place it under it to help make melted cheese. My round dome fit over this, but a long Rectangle Dome Cover would work if your dome doesn’t work.

I take the time to scrape off my griddle and reoil it every cook. It takes just minutes and leaves the griddle ready to be fired up the next time you want to cook.

What To Serve With Cheesesteak Quesadilla:

How to store leftover Blackstone Griddle quesadillas

Ensure the quesadillas have completely cooled before you place them in the fridge. If they are not cooled off, they will sweat and become soggy. Once cooled, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze them for up to a month.

How To Reheat Blackstone quesadillas

You can reheat Blackstone Quesadillas right on the Blackstone or in a skillet on the stove. These are also okay to reheat in your microwave as well.
