Now you can use any leftover smoked brisket. Leftover Jack And Coke Smoked Brisket is what I used in my Shepherd’s pie. I have to say the flavor added by the smoke and the brisket was amazing but smoking the whole dish made it turn out better than I could have imagined.

How To Make Smoked Brisket Shepherd’s Pie:
Cut up your leftover smoked brisket into small pieces, this is one thing I would change about how I made mine is that I cut the brisket into smaller pieces. If you can shredding the brisket would work great in this recipe.

Startup a pot of water to boil for your potatoes. (You can also follow this easy Garlic Mashed Potatoes recipe as well.)
Peel and cut your potatoes, I used russet potatoes, but you can use a different kind if you want. Gold potatoes taste amazing in Shepard’s pie. I used what Ii had on hand.
Boil your potatoes until they are ready to be mashed.
In a mixer, mash your potatoes, and combine with your potatoes the milk and sour cream; add in salt and pepper as well until they are well mixed and blended.
Chop your onion and peppers up into small pieces.
Oil your cast iron pan, I used a large cast iron skillet to make mine in. If you use a smaller skillet you will want to use less meat and potatoes to make this with. (Also if you need to learn How to Season your Cast Iron check out my post ->here)

In a mixing bowl, combine the Cream of Mushroom soup, peppers, onion, and minced garlic together and mix well.
Mix in the chopped-up brisket to the mixing bowl with the soup mixture.
Spread this mixture into the bottom of the skillet.

Spread the mashed potatoes onto the top of the soup mixture in the bottom of the skillet.
Start your smoker rolling, I had mine set at a setting of P4 then turned it up to 350 after it was good to go. I cooked this in a Pit Boss Pellet grill, this can be made in any smoker.

Money and time-saving tips from the old lady. If you order pellets online from Walmart and spend $35, they will drop them off at your door for free!! Their everyday price on pit boss pellets is amazing, plus the expert grill brand has a great price. (see them ->here)
Allow to smoke and cook in your smoker for about 30 minutes, I did turn my skillet a couple of times while it was smoking.

Top with cheese after 30 minutes and then top with cheese.

Allow the shepherd’s pie to finish smoking until the cheese has fully melted.
Remove and serve!
This is not the prettiest dish but it is one of the ultimate comfort food! And you can’t beat smoked food for St Patricks Day as well.

How To Store Leftover Shepherd’s Pie
You can wrap the top of the cast iron pan with tin foil or saran wrap. Or transfer the shepherd’s pie to a Tupperware container and store it sealed. This will last up to three to five days in your refrigerator.
