American Wagyu Beef this can be a new term for some.   Japanese Wagyu is very popular but comes with a high dollar price tag. Now, this was a first for me to smoke American Wagyu Steak, and let me say it was heavenly!

Thank you to Snake River Farms for sponsoring this post and sending my family a meat package. All opinions are truthful to my experience with the product. This post contains affiliate links that will earn me a small commission when used to order from Snake River Farms.

Did you know that Snake Rivers Farm is based right here in the PNW? They are loaded in American Falls Idaho! While I am not saying there’s anything wrong with meat from large chain stores, I prefer to purchase our protein from local businesses to support them directly when I can.  Being from the Midwest and growing up around farmers I know they all take pride in their cattle.  Cutting out the middle man is good for both parties.

What is Snake River American Wagyu?

In the 1980s Japanese Wagyu cow and bull herds were imported to Idaho.  They are bread with high-quality cattle to create buttery marbling and a robust beef flavor.  Snake River Farms control the entire supply train and the cattle are raised on raches and taken care of by their own in-house care team.  They strive on a philosophy of doing it the right way.

Why You Need To Order From Snake River Farms

Now I don’t know about the part of the United States you are from but here in the PNW I sometimes struggle to find beef in the thick cuts I prefer.  If I do find a good cut then the price tends to be higher than I would expect for the quality of the meat.

Now one of my favorite parts of ordering from Snake River Farms, all my steaks were individually wrapped. With my family’s busy schedule there are days when I am on my own for dinner so to easily pull one steak is amazing!

How is Snake Rivers Farm Shipped?

It really does amaze me how well the meat is shipped! My shipment came in a large box was lined with recyclable insulation.  Plus all the meat was packaged in a reusable freezer bag.  And the dry ice was packed around the freezer bag so everything was still frozen solid.

Dry Ice And freezer Box

I pulled the meat straight out of the box right into my freezer until it was time to thaw to cook.  We let the box set in the garage for the dry ice to melt all the way thru with no issues.  Bonus points the kids thought it was fun to see they hadn’t seen that much dry ice before in a package so they kept checking the melting process.

Snake River Farms Steaks On Plate

It’s probably not much of a surprise that I am a meat and potatoes kinda guy! My oldest had her braces removed so she had been dying to have a good steak dinner.  I fired up the smoker and we smoked up a New York Steak End Cut, a 2 Pack Filet Mignon, and a Top Sirloin Steak as well. They turned out amazing you could tell the quality difference in the steaks too!
