  • 12 Oz Bag Dried Split Peas
  • 1 Smoked Ham Bone
  • Chopped Smoked Ham Meat
  • Carrots
  • Red Onion
  • Diced Celery
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • Water
  • Bouillon
  • Minced Garlic
  • Pepper
  • Basil
  • Thyme

  • Start your stockpot boiling with water, you will want enough water to cover the hambone.
  • Now you will have to add water as it boils the bone and other ingredients since some the water will evaporate.
  • Once your pot is boiling add in your ham bone, Bouillon, Minced Garlic, Bay Leaves, Thyme, Basil, and chopped onion. I used Better Than Bouillon Vegetable Base on my soup.
  • Allow to boil for about 3 hours, check occasionally to add in more water.
  • Use a large slotted spoon or tongs to fish out your ham bone from the mixture.
  • Add to the stockpot diced Carrots, diced Celery, Dried Split Peas, and Diced Ham.  Add more water if necessary as well.
  • Allow to boil for about another hour and serve.
