  • Start your stockpot boiling with water, you will want enough water to cover the hambone.
  • Now you will have to add water as it boils the bone and other ingredients since some the water will evaporate.
  • Once your pot is boiling add in your ham bone, Bouillon, Minced Garlic, Bay Leaves, Thyme, Basil, and chopped onion. I used Better Than Bouillon Vegetable Base on my soup.
  • Allow to boil for about 3 hours, check occasionally to add in more water.
  • Use a large slotted spoon or tongs to fish out your ham bone from the mixture. 
  • Add to the stockpot diced Carrots, diced Celery, Dried Split Peas, and Diced Ham.  Add more water if necessary as well.
  • Allow to boil for about another hour and serve.
